Volunteer Opportunities

Local Volunteering

AsylumWorks

AsylumWorks provides social services, employment assistance, and community support to asylum-seekers and immigrants in the D.C. area. In the past, we have partnered together for their annual community Thanksgiving celebration and have volunteered at their donation drives. Volunteers can contribute on a project and events basis, such as with AsylumWorks Job Readiness program.

International Rescue Committee

As a refugee resettlement agency, the local Maryland branch of this global organization works with recent families in the D.C. area. No Lost Generation has partnered with the IRC Mentoring Program to facilitate the first visit meetings between families and new mentors. Our students received professional humanitarian training, and continue to work with the IRC in a virtual and in-person capacity.

Virtual Volunteering

New Horizons

New Horizons is a college mentorship program for refugees in high school, run by students at NLG. In this program, refugee/asylee/displaced students are paired with a GWU student mentor who will guide them throughout their higher education journey via individual meetings, group workshops, and bonding activities. Contact Hana Kim, Director of New Horizons, for more information.
