New Horizons
What is New Horizons?
We are a mentorship program run by students at NLG GWU offering high school refugee and displaced students a peer-to-peer mentorship program with academic workshops, guidance, and other resources as they prepare to apply to university.

Our program aims to assist refugee, asylee, or resettled students as they apply to higher education, such as community college or a four-year university. We pair students (mentees) with GWU students (mentors). Mentors and mentees meet at least twice a week to discuss any academic or college application questions the mentee may have. We hope to provide quality, structured support through pre-planned lessons, essay advice, Common Application assistance, and more.
