Just last week, Moria refugee camp in Lesvos Greece burned to the ground. Now, a refugee camp on Samos Island of Greece is facing its own crisis — a feared coronavirus outbreak and an active fire that has spread through part of the camp. The camp, which is home to 8,000 refugees, has been suffering for a while from overcrowding; it was originally meant for less than 2,000 people. Now, people in the camp are without access to adequate shelter, sanitation, food, water, medical and mental health services, education, and lots more. The living conditions are more than atrocious. With these new Covid 19 cases, there is much fear that the virus will spread throughout the camp and become a disaster, as people share close quarters and many are already sick and have malnutrition. On top of that, a fire has now broke out and puts even more people in danger of loosing their lives and homes. It is time to act, so we need your help: please share this post and share the news with everyone you know. The situation is desperate and needs media attention so that Greece and the EU will be pressured into helping and giving medical care to those who need it. As well, we have added a link in our bio to an organization that provides health care for the refugees on Samos Island.
